Executive Director

We are seeking a spirited, dynamic and experienced art professional to direct UrbanGlass as we head towards our 50th anniversary and beyond. The Executive Director leads the organization in fulfilling its mission and sets priorities in collaboration with the Board of Directors for its sustainability and growth.

The Bead Project

The Bead Project is a unique scholarship program designed for economically disadvantaged women, femmes, and gender non-conforming individuals in New York City to learn the art of glass beadmaking while gaining an education in entrepreneurship. Over 10 weeks, scholarship recipients take part in both studio and classroom coursework where they develop skills in a variety of glass bead techniques, jewelry fabrication and design, product marketing, and practical strategies for launching a successful small business.

Teaching at UrbanGlass

UrbanGlass instructors bring knowledge and expertise to our students, sharing a passion for creative expression in glass. 

We are currently accepting proposals for week-long intensive classes, taking place each year in January, July, and August.

Art Center Associates (flexible)

UrbanGlass is seeking a part time assistant in the Agnes Varis Art Center (AVAC) to help maintain and support our programming in this storefront and gallery space. AVAC is seeking individuals with flexibility to help cover shifts.

Product Open Call To The UrbanGlass Store

Present your designs to sell at the UrbanGlass Store during our Open Call for New Products! 

We are seeking handmade products that reflect the creative, glass community of Brooklyn and beyond. Each submission will be reviewed by a panel of art, design and retail professionals.

Studio Futures: The UrbanGlass Scholarship Fund

Studio Futures: The UrbanGlass Scholarship Fund aims to foster diverse voices in the field of glass art. The fund supports full scholarships for BIPOC identifying students ages 15-24 who want to learn glassmaking processes and build skills to use in their art practice moving forward. Recipients will explore glass techniques of their choice through classes and individual studio time. The scholarship program will run from September 2023 to August 2024.

Open Call: 2024 Window Gallery

The Window Gallery space consists of the western-facing windows in the Agnes Varis Art Center-- the triangular window space on the corner of Rockwell and Fulton and the large windows that are parallel to Rockwell Place.
