HELP WANTED: Toyama glass department seeks associate professor of hot working for 2-year contract

The Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Toyama, Japan, is seeking a hot work professor or associate professor for a contract position. Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience, hold a degree in fine arts or glass, and either currently teach or work primarily as a practicing artist. The advertised position will run from September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2019, with the possibility of an additional two years.

The salary is based on experience, but the current professor in this position is making 399,000 yen (approx. US$ 3,500) monthly. There are additionally allowances for housing, travel to and from Japan, and for dependents. The successful applicant will also be enrolled in the national healthcare system in Japan, as well as a pension plan.

Applications, which must be received by January 31, 2017, should include a resume with headshot, a portfolio of at least 20 images of your work on a DVD, two letters of recommendation, a one-page cover letter introducing yourself, and a copy of your highest academic degree received. Finalists will be interviewed via Skype.
