Danish Artist Mette Colberg Gives TEDx Talk on Transparency

Mette Colberg, a Danish glass artist, recently delivered a short talk on the nature of glass at TEDxCopenhagen, an independently organized series inspired by the influential TED Talks lecture series. In her talk entitled "Looking Through Glass," Colberg discusses her passion for the material, and explores the nature of transparency, which she sees as both a material quality and a concept. "One day it hit me, there is so much more to transparency than what meets the eye," she says. "Not many materials have a transparent aspect, but glass does. Why not flip the perspective around and focus on what happens when you look through glass?"

She then discussed her custom-made camera filter and her explorations of distortion and "hacking" the transparency of glass to create things that could be there.
