Join us for an artist talk by KEEP team Adam Holtzinger and Susan Spiranovich alongside Leo Tecosky as they speak about their recent residencies at Pittsburgh Glass Center.

About the Artists:

KEEP doesn't make objects that you can find "out there." Their lighting is handmade, one piece at a time. No machines here, just a small crew of devastatingly handsome individuals crafting glass the same way it was done thousands of years ago. KEEP is dedicated to maintaining the craft of glass blowing, producing objects with a current sensibility. For more than a decade thet prototyped and produced work for prestigious designers Jeremy Pyles of Niche Modern and Lindsey Adelman, among others, and continue to teach and demonstrate around the globe.

Leo Tecosky’s work is a mashup of art X craft X design. Combining traditional glassblowing techniques, graffiti, stylized typography and Islamic geometric motifs, he creates new objects that do not conform to any one discipline. With a  BA in Fine Art from Alfred University and an MFA from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Tecosky teaches at studios and universities both nationally and internationally. Leo lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, blowing glass and maintaining a studio practice.

"I seek to find meaning in the subtexts of things, literally and figuratively. Subcultures intrigue me, they have forms of expression and creation that go against the grain, questioning what is valid or acceptable. Craft is important to me; acquiring a skill set of materials to articulate my ideas is gratifying.Glass is forever challenging, with seemingly endless capabilities that keep me pursuing its qualities to address metaphor, form, function, metaform, metafunction."
