Pattern in All Dimensions: Fusing and Glassblowing Youth Summer Camp

Karina Oumov, Joshua Raiffe

This 2 week workshop will have students working in all dimensions, creating colorful, pattern-filled glass as both 2-D fusings and 3-D blown glass forms.

  • Week one will focus in the flat shop, introducing students to cutting and melting layers of sheet glass to explore color combinations, repetition, pattern making, and composition.
  • In week two, students will move to the hot shop to explore the ways those same colors and patterns can be applied to glass in the round. Students will complete multiple pieces in each studio.

This workshop can be taken as a one week segment in either fusing or glassblowing; or students can be part of the whole workshop and delve into how the processes can be combined. Students who take both weeks will apply one of their fusings to a bubble in the hotshop! Open to ages 11 and up.
