Neon Trilogy: Sculpture, Science, and Luminescence

Mark Naylor

Achieve the mental state of flow and make some beautiful light forms! This class is a mix of neon demos and short lectures with a focus on studio time for the students. Course lectures on the science of neon will inform, intrigue, and inspire students to reinvigorate this process and make something new and unexpected. We will explore several glass bending and assembly techniques to enable a beginner to control both 2D and 3D forms. Students are encouraged to be open to exploring the demo techniques, and to work to develop them further. Enjoy the process, investigate, invent, and make luminous works filled with light and life.
