Making A Way: Glass in Multi-Media Sculpture

Brent Sommerhauser

This class will offer a basic introduction to hot glass working and quickly jump into non-traditional techniques and exciting hybrid methods to set up opportunities for mixed-media sculpture. Our focus will be to make glass a useful part of your artistic and sculptural vocabulary, create work that is personally expressive and materially unlikely, and to explore the unique relationship of glass with other (perhaps unconventional) materials. We will move through potential solutions quickly, and act as matchmakers of surfaces, instances, objects, and spaces between.

This is a great class for the sculptor wanting to get to know glass, and incorporate it into an existing art practice. No glass experience needed – a strong work ethic and healthy enthusiasm will do.

Bring your questions, curiosity, and your belief in the creative adventure.
