Hotcasting Techniques: Writing and Drawing

Althea Holden

Using ladles to scoop and pull glass from the furnace, we will explore controlled pouring of molten glass directly onto the marver, a metal table, rather than into traditional molds or sand. Students will learn the essentials of small scale hot casting process, including writing their name and line drawing. Surface texture, color and coldworking will be addressed as well as three-dimensional assemblage. The workshop will culminate in a group installation. No experience necessary, but sense of humor required!
