Hot Working with Found and Recycled Glass

Nanda Soderberg

During this workshop, students will learn how to transform recycled and found glass via traditional hot shop techniques. A variety of demonstrations will introduce students to using found glass in the hot shop, heating glass in ovens and garages, picking it up on punties and pipes, and altering industrial forms using the glory hole, torch, and other hand tools.

Students will be exposed to using a wide array of different glass objects including beer bottles, shot glasses, marbles, punch bowls, and more. Since this is only a two day class, participants should have some previous experience. If you can make a punti, remember to keep turning, and use basic hand tools then you’re all good.
