From Fabricate to FABULOUS: Kilnformed and Coldworked Jewelry

Rachel Rader

Appreciation of, and obsession with, handmade jewelry are the guiding factors in this class. Join Rachel, a handmade jewelry aficionado, to get geeky over techniques involved in using glass in the kiln and coldshop to create fun, wearable patterns and textures. Starting in the basics of kilnforming, students will use glass to create a brilliant palate and interesting shapes to feature in wearable forms. The glass will then be brought to the coldshop to explore different surface treatments. Rachel will also demonstrate a basic introduction to jewelry design using metal findings. No pre-requisite in glass or metal required, just a love for jewelry and a desire to learn. Make it, wear it, talk about it, love it!

This class is being offered as part of our 40 for 40 series, a celebration of the 40th anniversary of UrbanGlass.
