Czech Coldworking Basics

Jiri Jelinek

What is cold working? In this weekend course, we will start at the very beginning, learning the fundamentals of the cold shop and its tools. Students will first focus on practicing multiple techniques on one object, combining grinding, engraving, sandblasting, and polishing to create a sampler of examples. Drawing out ideas will also be a focus of the class, to help plan the steps to take in the studio. Students will work with each of the machines, and become more comfortable with the processes and techniques available. Students are welcome to bring in their own glass objects as well to cold work. This class is open to all skill levels.
