Capturing Texture: Introduction to Kiln Casting

Kellie Krouse

This introductory workshop in casting will focus on one of the most exciting aspects of glass - the ability to replicate the surface, texture, and look of an original positive! Through sculpting with clay and manipulating fabric, we will create unique objects, make molds around them, then fill the molds with glass and fire them. Students will learn each step of the process, from sculpting to loading the kiln and firing the glass. Come prepared to experiment with different ways of capturing texture and an openness to learning a new technique!
