SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE The Bead Project is an UrbanGlass scholarship designed for economic disadvantaged women interested in attaining a new creative skill to help supplement or provide income. The program includes instruction in glass beadmaking, plus information on ordering supplies, costing and marketing, and silver jewelry making for your beads. The Bead Project offers:
Who can apply? The Bead Project was created specifically for low-income women, age 18 and over, living in New York City. Applicants should have some art experience in any media; a brief presentation of artwork is required during the interview by showing actual artwork, photos, slides, and or digital images. Applicants should not be currently enrolled in an academic program. Previous glass experience and or formal art background is not required. Applicants are required to provide proof of income, SSI benefits, welfare, unemployment, support payments, etc. Please attach a copy of income proof when submitting applications. How do I apply? Shortly after the application deadline you will be contacted to schedule an interview. You will need to bring samples of your art work with you to the interview such as actual artwork, photos, slides, and or digital images. You should also bring documentation of income to the interview as well, such as SSI benefits, welfare, unemployment, support payments, etc. After all the interviews have been completed, candidates for the program will be chosen based upon their application, interview, and artwork.
