2012 Van Lier Visiting Emerging Artist Fellowship Application
UrbanGlass offers two Visiting Emerging Artist Fellowships to New York City based artists wishing to work in glass. Fellowships are for an eight week period and include access to all areas of the interim Studio on a scheduled basis, technical support and materials as stipulated in the Fellowship Agreement. Due our current location in an interim studio, the 2012 fellowship will be available for flameworking, fusing and/or kiln casting techniques. Dates of fellowship and budget will be discussed with the artist. The Fellowship does not include room and board; however, each Visiting Artist receives an honorarium of $1,500 for his/her discretionary use

2012 The Bead Project Application Due Feb. 1 & Aug. 1
The Bead Project is a scholarship program designed for economically disadvantaged women interested in learning a new creative skill to help provide supplementary income. Students learn the art of glass beadmaking and jewelry making as well as the entrepreneurial skills necessary to market and sell their work.
The Bead Project curriculum includes 30 hours of glass beadmaking instruction jewelry making techniques. All aspects of glass beadmaking and jewelry making are covered, including an overview of the equipment and tools; safety procedures for working with hot glass; a brief history and survey of bead types and styles; and resources for purchasing glass and other beadmaking supplies.
After successful completion of The Bead Project curriculum, students receive a glass beadmaking kit and jewelry making kit containing all the necessary tools and equipment for continuing to produce their work.
