Fusing begins with sheets of brilliant-colored glass that the artist cuts into a variety shapes.  Arranged flat on a layer of clear glass or in an overlapping pattern, the design is place in a kiln that slowly heats overnight to soften the glass to the point that the pieces become fused together.  In this introductory workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of kiln forming, including design, safety, and basic fusing concepts. A short presentation on historical and contemporary kiln formed glass will compliment hands-on work. At the end of the class, you will have an 8” x 8” trivet, a set of coasters or a picture frame.  All materials included.  No experience necessary.
