Urban Invites is an UrbanGlass program in which mid-career artists based in New York State are invited into the UrbanGlass studio to create a body of work of a non-commercial nature, for a museum exhibition or public art installation, for example, for which funding might be limited or non-existent. The goal is to facilitate the creation of art and to introduce working artists to a new material thus expanding their creative repertoire. No glass experience is required. Project support includes access to the UrbanGlass studio, equipment and materials, and technical support. The exhibition must be in an advanced stage of planning and have confirmed dates. Artists interested in this program should have their exhibition curator send a 2 to 3 page letter of inquiry that includes the following information:
  • Description of the exhibition, exhibition dates and the intended audience;
  • Description of museum, including history and audience;
  • Project description and budget.
