UrbanGlass Gala: Auction Awards Glassblowers Ball
The Auction and Glassblowers Ball is the principal fundraising event of UrbanGlass. Monies raised go to support the programs of UrbanGlass, including the 17,000-square-foot open access glassworking studio; a comprehensive education program; The Bead Project, a scholarship program for low income women artists; GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly, the premiere English language publication covering the contemporary glass field; on- and off-site exhibitions including the Robert Lehman Gallery; visiting artist fellowships; and The Store at UrbanGlass.
Thanks to the generosity of patrons and artists over the past several years, UrbanGlass has completely rebuilt its Cold and Mold Shops, upgraded its Flat Shop and Lampworking Studio, and improved its ventilation and HVAC systems. In 2005, UrbanGlass built two new furnaces; in 2006, UrbanGlass built new glory holes.
The Auction and Glassblowers Ball is held each year at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers, New York City (entrance at 23rd Street and the West Side Highway).
