Fusing Workshop
Saturday, February 4, 2012
10 AM to 12 Noon
Teacher: Jane Bruce
Fusing begins with sheets of brilliant-colored glass that the artist cuts into a variety shapes. Arranged flat on a layer of clear glass or in an overlapping pattern, the design is place in a kiln that slowly heats overnight to soften the glass to the point that the pieces join together. After this step, the glass can be placed over a mold and heated again in the kiln, allowing the sheet of glass to soften and slump over the mold to form a vessel, such as a bowl. Voila. The possibilities are infinite. In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of kiln forming, including design, safety, basic fusing concepts, glass compatibility, annealing, volume control, and firing schedules.

Beadmaking Workshop
Saturday, February 11, 2012
10 AM to 12 Noon
Teacher: Amy Lemaire
Artists around the world for millennia have practiced beadmaking.
