Perth, Australia, is a city of extreme isolation where nature is beautiful and its reality harsh. It is an area that both struggles with and accepts the interaction between industry and the environment. This dividing line between urban and natural landscapes is the focus of Holly Grace’s practice. Glass has become the artist’s means to interpret this exchange of space and, with the use of form, surface decoration, and personal photographic imagery, she is able to convey her concepts.
Holly completed an MFA at Monash University, Victoria, Austrailia, in 2004 and as part of her self-training has participated in three international mentorship’s with glass artists Neil Wilkin, Vikki Noorman Koefoed, and Tobias Mohl. Currently, she is based in Melbourne, Australia, where she lectures at Monash University while managing her practice. Holly has exhibited recently at SOFA Chicago, Art London, Art Taipei, the Milan Furniture Fair, and is represented by galleries in Australia, United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Denmark, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
