About Fête de Verre
Who: Over 350 art collectors, artists, UrbanGlass friends and supporters.
What: A festive evening of fabulous glass, fine cuisine, Felliniesque fantasy and "fun"d raising. A re-imagining of the Gala, the event includes an outstanding auction, awards ceremony and special glass-focused performances. The evening begins with a cocktail reception that includes two silent auctions presenting 70+ works of art by emerging and established artists, as well as special packages and experiences. (Be sure to stop by the glam station where our glitter girls can gussy you up for your souvenir photo.) At 7:30 the curtain goes up on the main dining area where you are entertained by special glass performances and videos. At 8:00 we celebrate the recipients of the UrbanGlass Awards and vie for masterworks by established and emerging stars in the Live Auction, while dining on a delicious main course.
Cocktails: 6:30-8:00 pm
Dinner, Awards & Live Auction: 8:00-10:30 pm

Why:
- Over 350 artists use the Studio at UrbanGlass to create their work; some whose work we have seen develop are invited to exhibit, often for the first time, in our exhibition program; others come to us through the Visiting Artist or Urban Invites programs with the goal of expanding their art making to include glass, or incorporating glass into public exhibitions. All contribute to the development of artists' work and the field.
- Over 900 students come to UrbanGlass to learn glassmaking at every level, from beginners working with glass for the first time, to professionals who come to learn special techniques from master artists. This summer, Paul Stankard, Kirstie Rea, Jeff Mack and Ed Schmidt are some of the artists who will be teaching at UrbanGlass.
- Over 2000 individuals, organizations, and schools subscribe to GLASS: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly, the premiere English language publication covering the contemporary glass field, to keep abreast of the ideas that are shaping the field.
- Over 100 women have graduated from The Bead Project, improving their lives by learning a skill by which they gain confidence in themselves and earn additional income by selling their art.
UrbanGlass cannot do any of these things without your support.
Dress:
Fun, fabulous, fanciful. Think Lady (or Lord) Gaga meets Fellini's Satyricon meets Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Be glamorous, be glittery, be glassy. Time to bring out that glass dress, or at least the glass jewelry. None of the above? Then wear RED. That's always fabulous. And if you still need help, stop by the Glam Station and the Glitter Girls will get you ready for your close up at the Photo Booth. Nothing succeeds like excess and this is one evening we encourage you to be over the top.
