UrbanGlass offers Private Lessons exploring any of the techniques offered in courses and workshops. A Private Lesson package costs $1000. This package includes 9 hours of private instruction (usually broken into two or three sessions) with all basic equipment, tools, space, and materials included. Private lessons may accommodate up to 3 people (+$250 for each additional participant). Private workshops are available for larger groups. Private Lesson sessions may be booked to fit with your schedule, able to take place during any normal UrbanGlass studio hours. At this time, UrbanGlass does not offer Private Lessons in smaller packages. Booking Private Lessons and Private Workshops should take place at least 1 month in advance, though shorter notice bookings can often be accommodated. Short notice bookings may be subject to an additional 10% fee (call for details).

Registration Procedures UrbanGlass will continue to accept registrations up to one week prior to class start date for workshops and weekly classes, and up to one month prior to class start date for Intensives and Master Classes. Waiting lists are maintained for all full classes. If space becomes available, applicants are notified; please be prepared to respond quickly to an admission offer. Tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration, plus a $50 annual membership fee for non-members. Membership includes a year subscription to Glass Quarterly (subscriptions begin with the issue following the completion of the session) and covers all processing fees. Course fees include basic materials and equipment use. Additional lab fees are now included in the course fee. Checks should be made payable to UrbanGlass.

Learning at UrbanGlass takes many forms. Educational programming includes weekly classes, week-long intensives and two-day workshops in which students explore glassmaking techniques with acknowledged masters and acclaimed visiting artists/instructors. We offer courses in every type of glassworking technique, including glassblowing, casting, flameworking, neon, and coldworking. Whether a novice or a professional artist, we have the classes you need.
At UrbanGlass we strive to create an environment that fosters a real-world approach to glass art. Nowhere else will you find students working side-by-side with professional artists creating their work, in the heart of the art capital of the world - New York City. Our programs are designed to foster a love of glass and a thorough knowledge of its use as a medium for artistic expression.
UrbanGlass students have access to some of the finest glassworkers in the world, year-round. This is because UrbanGlass is not just a school but a working artist studio where professional artists come to make their work and their living. We are open year round to provide quality education and support to students and artists alike.
The Bead Project is a scholarship program designed for economically disadvantaged women interested in learning a new creative skill to help provide supplementary income. Students learn the art of glass beadmaking and jewelry making as well as the entrepreneurial skills necessary to market and sell their work. Ongoing advocacy is provided to graduates by The Bead Project and UrbanGlass. The Bead Project curriculum includes 30 hours of glass beadmaking instruction jewelry making techniques. All aspects of glass beadmaking and jewelry making are covered, including an overview of the equipment and tools; safety procedures for working with hot glass; a brief history and survey of bead types and styles; and resources for purchasing glass and other beadmaking supplies.
