UrbanGlass is pleased to announce that in partnership with the City of New York and the Borough of Brooklyn, it is building a premier LEED Silver facility where artists and students can create with glass. The renovation and expansion of our facility is part of the City’s multi-million dollar investment in the historic Strand Theater, which will be a cornerstone in the development of the BAM Cultural District.
As the first choice of artists wishing to create with glass, we recognize the need for a world-class facility with dynamic programming that nurtures community and fosters artistic innovation and collaboration.
Inspired by our history of innovation and our unique position within the New York cultural landscape, the City’s contribution will: 1) provide a redesigned physical working environment; 2) upgrade the studio’s complex – and costly – mechanical systems; and 3) for the first time, allow direct street access and visibility for our programs.
The Fund for the New UrbanGlass will: 1) provide state-of-the-art equipment throughout the facility; 2) improve our technology for online education, publications and marketing; and 3) support the planning and oversight for this transformational project.
For more information about the project and ways you can play a part, contact Rachel Feinberg at 718.625.3685 ext. 204 or rachel@urbanglass.org.
